Sarah Palin & Michele Bachmann Compete For Village Idiot

Ex-Half Term Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin, by now should understand how to and how not to win votes.  When you disrespect the teaching profession,  you lose votes.  It appears that Sarah Palin is snubbing this teacher and then we have Michele Bachamann, who is a gift to Democrats everywhere.

Zennie:

Governor Palin asked Karen Gustafson what she did for a living. “I’m a teacher,” she said, to which Palin and her aide just immediately looked at each other, and frowned and groaned at the same time. Then Palin rolled her eyes.

Sarah Palin can kiss her political aspirations goodbye.

Why Sarah Palin took that position is a wonder. You can’t tell why from her Facebook page, where she posted this message:

While filming the Alaska documentary in Homer, I had a brief discussion with a local lady who, in typical Alaska style, decided to give me her two cents worth about my political leanings, American politics in general, and much else besides. It’s what makes our politics so uniquely democratic: two people discussing the things they care about, even though they respectfully disagree about just about everything (you can watch a brief video of the encounter here).

The LSM has now decided to use this brief encounter for another one of their spin operations. They claim I – wait for it – “appear to roll my eyes” when the lady tells me she’s a teacher. Yes, it’s come to this: the media is now trying to turn my eyebrow movements into story lines. (Maybe that’s why Botox is all the rage – if you can’t move your eyebrows, your “eye rolling” can’t be misinterpreted!) If they had checked their facts first, they would have known that I come from a family of teachers; my grandparents were teachers, my father was a teacher, my brother is a teacher, my sister works in Special Needs classrooms, my aunt is a school nurse, my mom worked as a school secretary for much of her professional life, we all volunteer in classrooms, etc., etc., etc. Given that family history, how likely is it that I would “roll my eyes” at someone telling me that they too work in that honorable profession? Stay classy, LSM.

One good thing to come out of this little episode, though, is that it helps to remind people once again that Alaska is a great state full of independent-minded people. I look forward to introducing you to some of them in the forthcoming documentary series on life in Alaska! The show will remind you to get outdoors, breathe in God’s creation, and taste the freedom!

- Sarah Palin

The problem that Palin doesn’t get is people are upset because of her background, and then what she did. Regardless of words, video doesn’t lie. Palin’s expression was one of pity for the Alaska Teacher rather than pride. Palin still doesn’t explain what she was really thinking, even on her Facebook page

Republicans had a  fit over President Obama’s love of mustard, which well call, ‘mustard-gate’. Sarah Palin hurled insults over his use of a teleprompter and this woman needs one. The election, or should I say, reelection, should be interesting, especially when you consider Michele Bachmann:

Michelle Bachmann took to the Internet to blast the “Tele-Townhall” meeting she was holding Monday night. This blogger visited Michelle Bachmann’s website to get a look at what she was trying to do and saw just a giant sign up sheet, then thought because it told nothing, only a fool would blindly sign up for it.

Well, according to Congresswoman Bachmann there are a million fools out there who went to her “Tele-Townhall” meeting via phone. Ah, well, let’s adjust that viaWonkette, which informs that Bachmann’s people made calls to a million people, or a million were invited.

This blogger’s knowledge of that online process bets the actual numbers for that deal were far less than the Congresswoman reported.

And Michelle Bachmann was doing this to show she’s on the wrong side of a much needed and too small $26 billion stimulus package House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is touting and that really needs an extra zero behind it.

The new stimulus would help people keep their jobs, something Congresswoman Bachmann in no way really understands the need to do. If she did, the Tea Party Movement candidate would get beyond that level of non-think and become a cheerleader of government investment where it’s need most to create jobs.

    @ Shiva. I don’t need to provide any “research”. Unemployment is still 10%. That is a fact. The only “jobs” being created are in the government and Healthcare sectors the last time I checked.

    If you have some “research” to dispute this, by all means pony up.

    • http://FreakOutNation.com Anomaly100

      @Barry, 9.5% to be exact. http://www.bls.gov/

      • Hank

        @Anomaly100, Let’s see….100 years ago when I was in school, 9.5% was more than 8%.

        “With the stimulus, they predicted the unemployment rate would peak at just under 8 percent in 2009.

        http://bit.ly/2OrcH

        • Shiva

          @Hank,

          “With the stimulus, they predicted the unemployment rate would peak at just under 8 percent in 2009.”

          How nice. They did predict that. If you want to hang your hat on what was predicted thats fine. It gives you a talking point. The unemployment rate is 1.5% higher.

          Without the stimulus do you have a prediction what the rate would be today? If there was no stimulus the rate would be over 15% and you would be howling about that.

          So I give no credence to your quote about that prediction. Obama cant control the banks and the hiring practices of everyone. Were I you, I would be happy that the rate is only 9.5%

          • Hank

            @Shiva, How heavy would that hat hang on predictions if the Unemployment rate had topped out at 8% or less?

            You can’t, with any degree of relevancy or integrity, have it both ways? You guys have done a great job of turning a blind eye to Liberal Policies failing to meet “predictions” and expectations.

            Btw Richard Head, I’m not “howling” about anything. I’m just trying to have a reasonably intelligent and civil discussion about the issues.

            • http://FreakOutNation.com Anomaly100

              @Hank: You “howler” you! When you mention “liberal policies” may I ask what scale you are using to determine what is, liberal, moderate or Democrat?

          • Shiva

            @Shiva,

            Sorry, the “liberal policys” have not failed. Obama has gotten more done that Bush did in 8 years

            I dont worry about having it both ways. The stimulus has been a success albeit to varying degrees in different locales. It would be a far greater success if the banks who are now reaping huge profits were translating those profits to the economy. Jobs have not only been created but saved. The people paving the road for the 90th time are contributing to the economy.

            Exactly which Liberal policys failing are you talking about?

          • Shiva

            @Shiva,

            Some info

            Fairly or not, Ruffini raises an interesting question: How much unemployment can we blame on the Obama administration? Economist Rob Shapiro dug into some Bureau of Labor Statistics data and came back with the best numbers I’ve seen on the subject. He separated job losses into two buckets: Those that happened before the stimulus, which was Obama’s major effort to deal with joblessness, and those that happened after the stimulus. Here’s what he found:

            From December 2007 to July 2009 – the last year of the Bush second term and the first six months of the Obama presidency, before his policies could affect the economy – private sector employment crashed from 115,574,000 jobs to 107,778,000 jobs. Employment continued to fall, however, for the next six months, reaching a low of 107,107,000 jobs in December of 2009. So, out of 8,467,000 private sector jobs lost in this dismal cycle, 7,796,000 of those jobs or 92 percent were lost on the Republicans’ watch or under the sway of their policies. Some 671,000 additional jobs were lost as the stimulus and other moves by the administration kicked in, but 630,000 jobs then came back in the following six months. The tally, to date: Mr. Obama can be held accountable for the net loss of 41,000 jobs (671,000 – 630,000), while the Republicans should be held responsible for the net losses of 7,796,000 jobs.

            We can argue about how much of the job losses should really be pinned on Republicans or Republican policies, of course. Financial deregulation happened under Bill Clinton, for instance. And it’s hard to hold George W. Bush solely responsible for a global financial crisis. But insofar as the job losses go, it’s hard to credibly blame this White House for the vast, vast majority of them.

      @Barry,

      Of course you dont have to provide anything.

  • Hank

    Two things. With graduation rates in Alaska hovering in the low 60 percent range, perhaps she could find something better to do with her time than stand around holding a stupid sign.

    Educators and public schools generally tend to hold to a rather Liberal Agenda. Look at the many very public instances. Children being forced to sing praises to “O-Bam-A”. Children being force fed Al Bore’s ignorance. Children not allowed to say the pledge. Children not allowed to pray. Children (grade school age) being supplied with condoms. I mean, come on guys. The “Liberal” establishment has had a death grip on our children for years. That’s the reason most of the younger set that voted for Obama were so ill informed.

    So, all things considered. You have a lady standing out in the cold holding a stupid sign. You ask her what is her profession. She responds, “I’m a teacher.” If she is cognizant of the influence her appearance may have on her charges, she really shouldn’t be there holding a sign.

    But when she is, and reveals she is a Teacher. I think Palin’s response is appropriate. As in, “That figures!!”

    When you have children in your charge, you should always be aware of the image you present. Any teacher should always be aware of their public image.

    • Shiva

      @Hank,

      actually what you’re saying Hank, is that Republicans never get involved in the education of their children.

      Children being forced to sing praises to Obama is one isolated incident and is ridiculous to be noted here. Children being force-fed Al Gore’s message his opinion on your part. global warming is here.

      as far as the Pledge of Allegiance there are seven states that have no requirements for the Pledge of Allegiance. the Supreme Court has affirmed many times that the children should be saying the pledge. http://www-personal.umich.edu/~kelsbels/pledge/schools.html

      there are only a couple of schools who have enacted a condom policy. Women today are reaching puberty far earlier than they used to. Some girls are having sex as early as 12. I am not sure why you’re against condoms given the fact you are probably against abortion.

      Get your facts together and stop whining

      there is absolutely nothing liberal about the stuff that you bring up. you blame liberals because like I said before, Republicans don’t seem to ever get involved in the education of their children. Let’s leave it to someone else and blame them.

      Bullshit

      • Hank

        @Shiva, So, allow me to summarize your comment.

        “Hank. Everything you said is true and I have no response other than to TRY to insult you and call you names.”

        By the way. You comments about all the jobs created by the stimulus is so deeply flawed it doesn’t bear further comment. Even the most radical liberal sites out there will only say at best the estimation of “New Jobs” created by the stimulus is suspect. Most Fact Checking sites say they are just wrong.

        Glass houses my friend. Glass houses.

        • Shiva

          @Hank,
          First, I dont believe I called you a name. Dont succumb to paranoia.

          Second, you made tiny molehills into mountains. Generally trying to say that occurrences of very minimal numbers were national occurrences of a high order.

          So no, while what you said was true in a couple of places, you really had no points where education was concerned. You were miles from reality with the Pledge.

          The Government employees and union employees being interchangeable was pure opinion and hard to argue. However I could care less if you wish to go on with that thought.

          I have no doubt you cant argue my comments on jobs. Its so easy to say they are flawed and walk away.

          When Obama took office we were losing 750,000 jobs a month. Net job loss was stopped quite some time ago. Jobs have been created and also jobs are still being lost. Without the stimulus it is estimated our unemployment rate would be over 15%. Job loss has not been stopped, especially since now companys are hiring temporary labor, and changing that work force when they are required to make them permanent. However jobs are created but our unemployment is still high.

          Keep trying

  • Barry

    “The new stimulus would help people keep their jobs, something Congresswoman Bachmann in no way really understands the need to do.”

    Could someone please explain to me how the stimulus has allowed anyone (other than a Government employee) to keep their job? Seems to me that unemployment is still at 10% in spite of all the stimulus money spent. Please explain to me how re-surfacing a road or building a bridge to nowhere is going to create jobs for anyone other than a few construction workers and illegal aliens.

    Oh okay, I get it. With liberals it’s not the actual result that counts it’s the intent. Nobody should be concerned with facts and figures, just that Big Government cares so much about us they are going to spend money.

    There is a resurfacing project going on in my neighborhood. It took me an extra 30 minutes to get through on my way to work. As I was driving through, there was a sign that said “Your stimulus dollars at work”-or something to that effect. They have been re-surfacing the same section of beltway for 30 years. All the stimulus did was line the pockets of the contractors who have been winning those rigged bids anyway.

    If we really wanted to spend money to help people we could have just taken that stimulus money and cut a check to everyone – even stupid leftists. I’ll never forget when I got a check from GW after he got in office and cut taxes. That’s the kind of stimulus that I support.

    • Shiva

      @Barry,

      I’m sure you also are happy that Bush added trillions to the deficit with those tax cuts.

      As far as this goes
      “Could someone please explain to me how the stimulus has allowed anyone (other than a Government employee) to keep their job? ”

      You have just proven that you are incapable of your own research.don’t expect others to do it for you. you can start with the fact that Pres. Obama has already created more jobs that than George W. Bush did in eight years.

      That statement that you made is remarkably unresearched. Give it a chance next time.

      you’ll notice that in order to resurface the road people have to be hired and paid. You just passed part of the answer to your own question and all you could think about was how long it took you to get home.

      • Hank

        @Shiva, Shiva – Perhaps all of us could afford to do a little better research before we start slinging stones.

        http://www.factcheck.org/2009/02/infrastructure-jobs-for-union-workers-only/

        As far as I’m concerned, Government Employee and Union Employee are virtually interchangeable.

        • Shiva

          @Hank,

          I am seriously wondering why you left me with a link that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. It’s very obvious that not all of the jobs in the stimulus went to union workers. In fact union workers are only around 10% of America’s workforce. If not less.

          Government employees and union employees are the same? Boy that sure a stretch

  • Shiva

    I am not sure if I will ever understand why the Republicans along with Sarah Palen and Michelle Bodman as well as others seem to forget that there is such a thing as videotape. Or digital video. Rolling your eyes with a look of disgust on her face is a tad bit hard to explain away by simply saying your family is stuffed full of teachers.

    It seems to me that the Republican Party or anyone affiliated with it is bound and determined to turn away voters in blocks. And then they say that they will take a great number of seats in November.

    These are really scary people

  • Barry

    @ Shiva

    You have given me a good laugh today with your “research” about job creation under Obama. Thank you for lifting my spirits on an otherwise dismal Tuesday. Finally, I have found the one person on the planet that thinks Obama’s economic policies are working.

    I’ll bet you are a Kool-Aide drinker and you like mustard on your hamburger.

  • Shiva

    @Barry,

    it must be pretty obvious that they are working as you have no rebuttal. I do enjoy mustard on my hamburgers, I think if you do a little research you might find that the vast number of people in the nation do as well.

    I haven’t had Kool-Aid since I was a kid but last week I did have some lemonade for the first time in a very long time

    I see that you aren’t going to do any research to back yourself up with so I will just leave you here languishing as you are. Feel free to flail about
