Without a doubt in the past, voter turnouts favor Republicans. Democrats and Progressives need to glimpse into their future because if this poll is accurate, we’re going backwards in time.
(CNN) – Voter turnout could be crucial in the battle between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and his Republican challenger, Sharron Angle, and a new poll indicates that Republican voters in the state are more energized than their Democratic counterparts.
According to a Reuters/Ipsos survey of Nevada voters released Tuesday, 81 percent of Republicans say they are certain to vote on November 2, 17 points higher than the 64 percent of Democrats who say they’ll vote in the midterm elections.
If the thought of Sharron Angle doesn’t scare the hell out of you, then by all means, slack off but before you get too comfortable, read this:
It’s pretty clear that “Sharron Angle has quickly become Harry Reid’s biggest asset,” says Alex Altman in Time. For Republicans, her foot-in-mouth candidacy is a cautionary tale about the “political dangers of the Tea Party’s quest for ideological purity.” But for Reid, “she may be a lifeline” in his once-doomed reelection bid.
“Sharron Angle’s latest gaffe”“Lemons into lemonade?” says Jim Newell in Gawker. Wow, what a “really awful metaphor choice.” Just because your anti-abortion stance is ideologically consistant” doesn’t mean you should try to “spin” being raped by your father “into positives.” No wonder she “refused to talk to any reporters for weeks.”
“Wingnut candidate advises… incest victims to turn lemons into lemonade”
All right wing party’s will be voting for Angle:
According to the poll, one out of four Republican voters said they were more inclined to support Angle because she enjoys backing by Tea Party groups, with seven percent saying they are less likely to support Angle because of her Tea Party backing.
Angle transparency:
she’s threatening to sue Reid for posting her own political positions, ducking the press like the plague or forcing her staff to assure folks that no, she’s not in favor of armed revolution, Angle’s candidacy has underlined the political dangers of the Tea Party’s quest for ideological purity.
Angle wedged her foot in her mouth again. During an appearance on a Las Vegas radio show, she called BP’s $20 billion escrow account for oil spill victims a “slush fund” and chided President Obama for bullying private industry. “Government shouldn’t be doing that to a private company,” she said.
Reid’s campaign issued a statement on Angle’s remarks. “This pitiful attempt by Sharron Angle’s new DC handlers to back off her warm embrace of BP contradicts a record of consistently siding with big oil and against the victims of the tragedy in the Gulf.
The sole reason this woman is running against Harry Reid is because the other insane Republican/Tea Person, Sue Lowden. didn’t win against this candidate. It’s a toss up as to which is more detached than the other.
Angle won the Republican primary despite polls generally showing her to be the weakest potential GOP candidate. She largely has Lowden to thank. The former state GOP chair had a rather amusing self-destruction after encouraging the use of barter in order to lower health care costs, pining for the days when her grandparents’ generation would bring a chick to the doctor.
We may not have to barter with chickens for health care, but with Angle, you may not get any since she deems health care to be against the First Commandment:
On Wednesday, the celestial threads took another turn towards the bizarre, as Nevada political reporter Jon Ralston uncovered an interview in which the Tea Party favorite said that actions of the federal government were a “violation of the First Commandment”
Even the Tea People take exception to her madness when she was a no show at a headline event with Sheriff Joe Arpaio. You remember Sheriff Joe don’t you? Both were supported by the organizers of the Tea Party she was to attend, but didn’t.
Angle supports endorsements from the pulpit which should upset the church because their taxes would no longer be exempt, unless that is changing too? Angle wants to overturn the rights of the gay community to adopt children and has a strong stance against immigration reform, instead touting the new Arizona profiling law, which speaks volumes for her exclusion of the Latino vote.
As if she hasn’t ostracized enough voters, she should by all means loose the female vote, unless you live in Bedrock in the Stone Age. Sharron Angle does not advocate for single mothers or working mothers, like the days of old, Angle believes one parent should stay home with the children because it’s the, “acceptable right thing to do.”
h/t Fox (no, really)
Obviously, Sharron Angle has not heard the latest. The days of one parent staying home has not been an option for many families for quite a long time.
Sharron Angle does not know the Constitution or doesn’t believe in it:
In a June interview on Nevada’s KVBC’s news interview program “Face to Face with Jon Ralston,” Angle was asked about minutes from a 1995 legislative hearing in which she reportedly said the doctrine of church-state separation is unconstitutional. Asked on the program if the separation of church and state arises out of the Constitution, Angle answered “no.” She said Thomas Jefferson is often misquoted and that he wanted to protect churches from being taken over by a state religion. The drafters of the Constitution “didn’t mean that we couldn’t bring our values to the political forum,” she said.
The multitude of Sharron Angle gaffes would overwhelm this post and even Republicans are feigning naivete hoping we don’t notice the most recent one. A good question is, did you notice? Unquestionably she has no resolve to the issues she objects to which makes it apparent that this is just more monotony of the Party of No. Conservatives, Republicans, Independents and Tea People are the same party because they’ll all vote for Angle no matter how deranged she appears to be..
To recap, Angle has ostracized the Latino, female and LGBT vote. Her support from the Tea People leaves many minorities to question her stance on racism, after all, racist Mark Williams of the Tea Party Express helped make Angle a contender for this race. The only category Angle hasn’t singled out, is the white vote. This is not an attempt at playing the race card as right wingers would love for the voting public to believe. This is Sharron Angle. Her take on The Constitution as well as The Bible is astoundingly ignorant.
