Meet The ‘Patriots’ At Glenn Beck’s Rally

This is the result of listening to Glenn Beck, you become just like him.  Watching Fox 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, drills this insanity into the brains of the naive, misguided and uninformed. Clearly, this is disinformation and/or propaganda brought to you by Fox.

From New Left Media:

On 8.28.2010, Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally was held on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. The purpose of the rally, which Beck claimed to be “non-political” despite featuring Tea Party-favorite Sarah Palin as a speaker and its being attended entirely by conservatives, was unclear. The participants spoke abstractly about the need to restore “honor” and “pride” to a country that had lost it. When pressed for when our country had lost its honor, most cited the election of Barack Obama.

8.28.2010 also represented the 47th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech, and Glenn Beck has been criticized for by civil rights groups for trying to misappropriate the occasion.

Last year, Beck referred to Barack Obama—our country’s first African-American President–as a “racist… who has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.” When offered the chance to respond to Beck’s statements, his fans either agreed with him or simply refused to believe that he had ever made them.

While the speaker list was diverse, the overwhelmingly white crowd expressed paranoid and conspiratorial fears of multiculturalism—that atheists or black liberation theologists or radical Muslims or “free-loading” Latinos were going to ruin our country. There was the constant suggestion that white Christians and their way of life are somehow under assault, and that the attendees of this rally were here to put an end to it and return the country to what it used to be.

The problem with the Tea Party isn’t anything they proclaim to be for, in fact most Progressives, believe in the same thing, it’s just that we but blame where it is due, and they woke up 10 years too late and place blame on a Black President that is actually working to reduce the deficit amidst the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

    Here’s another desperate attempt.

    http://tinyurl.com/27n8nf8

And Huffington Post bills these as: “..the most ridiculous messages sported by attendees at Beck’s rally Saturday.”

Really? Are they offended by images of the flag?? I think the left is just angered because they don’t have anything truly outrageous to be indignant over.

If this is the best you can do, you are in for some difficult times.

    • OMGawd

@Hank, Don’t you think the flag waving & revolutionary garb give them less credibility? I’m as patriotic as the next guy but I don’t need to wear a Ben Franklin outfit to show it. It’s what you do that makes a guy or gal patriotic. This looks like a bunch of nuts. I hate that it’s defended by saying it’s only one or two. This is all we see and don’t say it’s because I haven’t read anything but left leaning sites because I’m more of a moderate than anything. I find these people do not help my cause or/and theirs. In my opinion, this guy would do anything to stay on top and he knows he screwed up. Goldline? Have you read about that scam? It’s always about money. We need to see more intelligent conservatives out there, not these people. If Mitt Romney comes to town and people dressed in revolutionary costumes, don’t you think it would look as if they’re undermining thesmelves?

      • Hank

@OMGawd, I don’t know that it gives them any less credibility. But it certainly makes them look silly. In my opinion. Of course, I would suppose the “book/cover” adage might apply, but still, I say silly.

But I do take exception to Huffington Posts description as “the most ridiculous messages”. What I DO find ridiculous is the Left’s hysterical attempts to disparage this rally. They’re beginning to look pretty desperate.

Have you seen the price of Gold these days??

That vid is very telling of a total lack of education and awareness of ones surroundings.

Little different than the Brad Blog interviews at a tea party rally where a couple joined because Rush said Obama was taking the right to fish away.

What’s more interesting from our perspective about this Glenn Beck phenomenon is that “The Folks in Control,” however one might characterize them in terms of race, status, class, wealth, geographic location or whatever, allowed our current situation to develop over arguably the last 50 – 100 years, and now there are complaints by a vocal group of concerned citizens.

Is it possible, as postulated by some, that the liberal, conservative, progressive, corporate and banking interests, and libertarian POWER FORCES in our society are laughing all the way to the bank, and that we minions with little money and power (the members of the Institute for Applied Common Sense included) are the ones complaining? And that because of new technological advances in communication and the power of the Internet, the voice of the minions is now being disseminated with greater force, essentially saying, “Stop! Enough is enough!”?

Is this arguably populist movement somewhat similar to the one led by “the Great Commoner,” William Jennings Bryan at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th Centuries?

Is what we are experiencing simply the most vocal expression of the perhaps 80% of we citizens at the bottom of the heap?

@Shiva, OH MY GOD!! I’m appalled!!

He interviewed what??? Maybe 10 people total out of a crowd generally accepted to be around 300,000+ strong?

None of them said anything outlandish and exhibited varying levels of being informed. Of course, I can understand that their communication abilities may not have been up to contemporary, elitist, liberal standards, but it seems to me they made an honest effort to answer his questions to the best of their abilities. Do I agree with everything they said? No.

I don’t understand you people’s obsession with those of us disenchanted with the direction America is headed, and who are motivated and invigorated enough to exercise their rights of assembly and voice their dissent…..peacefully.

I applauded Anomaly’s effort in the face of a rather snitty attack from a commenter because at least, she see’s things that she feels are wrong and makes an affirmative effort to do something about it and effect change.

Why do you guys get your panties in such a knot because others attempt to exercise the same effort?

  • Shiva

@Hank, Im not happy with the direction of the coutnry either. I haven’t been since 2000. But there is a vast difference between being against the direction of the country and buying into totally ridiculous inane propaganda.

  • Hank

@Reggie Greene / TheLogistician, Heh-heh-heh-heh. That must have their heads exploding!! A Famous LIBERAL defending Creationism and battling against Darwinism.

This is what I frickin’ love about this stuff. It’s too time consuming, but I do enjoy getting edicated about stuff I don’t know about.

  • Hank

@Shiva, Yes there is. And I wonder when the Left is going to come to their senses!!

You see. That’s what I’m saying and that is the nail that Krauthammer hit dead on the head. And both sides are guilty. Honestly, I think the left more so than the Right, but all are guilty nonetheless. “Arrogant elites” can apply to individuals on either side of the ideological aisle.

“….arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.”

  • Shiva

    @Shiva, Sure thing hank
